I’m excited to introduce the Principled Leadership Club on Substack. This is a project that I hope will develop into a useful resource and networking tool, a place to think about leadership and contribute to an ongoing conversation. My goal here is to create an honest and open landscape, one where we can stand with confidence and curiosity, breathing in some fresh air and thinking critically about the question: What is good leadership?
What to expect
Here’s what you can expect from this space (as well as my expectations if you want to share your comments and experiences, which I hope you do!)
“Principled leadership” is a philosophy of leading based on sound moral judgment and an alignment with the greater good (i.e., on leading well and with purpose to build better culture). If you’ve been following the newsletter and want more opportunities to engage with the content—sharing your expertise, asking questions, learning from others, making new connections—you’re invited to join the club.
I currently post monthly, and I’d love to do more (I aspire to), but for now, rest assured, I won’t flood your inbox.
You can still find regular posts on the LinkedIn newsletter, as well as Goodmenders.com, if you prefer those mediums.
For those who want to interact in this space (e.g., commenting, submitting questions), please keep the following in mind:
Right now, everything is free! If you like the work and being a part of the community (and hope to see more in the future), you can support by donating in the form of a paid subscription.
I’m always looking for new topics to write about and questions to consider, so you’re encouraged to reach out to me. I’ll offer questions of my own, and I imagine the collective wisdom of the group will produce many useful gems.
Thanks again! I couldn’t do this without you. To my readers who haven’t grown tired of me yet, I am forever grateful for your support, attention, and camaraderie. I believe leaders are not born, but trained, and I look forward to working together to see how much we can grow. Please tell a few friends if you feel like it. The more perspectives we have, the better.
With gratitude,
Nick
